Tello marks debut with goal

With 3 players from the Cantera, Tello and Cuenca playing out wide and Dos Santos sitting in front of defence, Tello, greatly assisted by Messi, got a subtle touch on the 9th minute to score his first official goal in the Spanish League.

Messi on target after a 3 matches drought

Messi was out of luck the whole match, missing 3 clear goal opportunities. His drought finally came to an end, helped by a formidable cross by Alves with 18 minutes remaining. It took Real Sociedad only 2 minutes to reply with goal from Vela to make it 2-1 with a quarter of an hour still left to play.

Nasty injury for Busquets

Sergio Busuets got injured after disputing a ball with a Real attacker on the edge of the box. Maybe the black cat running on the pitch earlier in the match brought bad fortune to the blaugrana midfielder. The picutres look worse than the acutal injury. Busquets could be fit for Wednesday’s clash against Valencia CF in the second leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final.

Video: FC Barcelona style of play decrypted

Great video, although it is sometimes hard to read the caption at the same time. Definitely worth watching though !!!

A great display of tiki taka football, high pressing, ball possession, high defensive line, position changes. Thank you Mr Guardiola !

Valencia CF 1-1 FC Barcelona video highlights

Copa del Rey

Valencia CF 1-1 FC Barcelona

Copa del Rey – Semi-final first leg
Wednesday 1st of February at 21.00
Stadium: Mestalla, Valencia

FC Barcelona managed to get a valuable draw in Valencia in the first leg of the Spanish Cup semifinal. Both goals were scored in the first half: Jonas put the home side ahead, and Puyol equalised with a header. Pinto should have been sent off for a clear hand outside his box. Messi missed a penalty and has not scored since his hat trick in Malaga last month.

The Blaugranas remain confident despite the draw.

This is the best game we’ve played here

Guardiola declared “This is the best game we’ve played here” and added “It is better to go to the Camp Nou with the obligation to win. If you go with a 1-2 or 1-3 you sometimes get the impression that the tie is over”. Mascherano shares the same optimism: “The tie depends exclusively on us, and that is the most important thing,”

Villareal CF vs FC Barcelona match preview

Villareal CF – FC Barcelona

El Madrigal, Castellon
Saturday 28th of January 2012 at 22:00
Spanish League

FC Barcelona visits Villareal tonight with only 18 players due to an overbooked injury list. A victory is mandatory to remain in contact of Spanish League leaders Real Madrid.

Alexis and Iniesta both went down with injuries against Real Madrid last wednesday, and have joined Villa, Afellay and Fontàs on the sidelines. In addition, Pep Guardiola will have to do without Seydou Keita, due to his participation in the African Nations Cup. The catalan coach, however, will be counting on the youngsters Isaac Cuenca, Jonathan Dos Santos, Sergi Roberto and Tello.
