David Villa to play for FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona confirmed today the signing of Valencia CF striker David Villa (29). The Blaugrana signed Villa for 4 years and 40M€, making it clear they might not count on Zlatan Ibrahimovic for next season. The presentation at the Camp Nou stadium will take place this Friday. “El Guaje” was the top scorer of the 2008 European Championship, and scored more than 120 goals in the alst 6 professional seasons, making him the best striker in Europe these days.

Pep Guardiola’s squad picked up their 7th title in a bit more than a year this evening, claiming the club 20th La Liga after cruising past Valladolid. FC Barcelona took control of the game after an own goal from Valladolid’s Prieto, followed quickly by a second from Pedro. Leo Messi completed the job with two second half goals which took him to an incredible 34 league goals, 47 in total for the season.

Just Valladolid stand in the way of FC Barcelona towards La Liga title after a nerve-wracking 2-3 win at Seville FC. The Blaugrana played brilliantly for 65 minutes to go three goals up by Cantera’s players (Messi, Bojan and Pedro) but then we suffered a lapse of concentration which allowed Seville, to score twice in the space of three minutes to set up a nail-biting finish.

FC Barcelona move four points above Real Madrid tonight after a tricky victory over Tenerife. Messi scored early on but a mistake from the FC Barcelona Captain Puyol led to a Tenerife equalizer before half time. Bojan fired the Blaugrana back into the lead just after the hour before late goals from Pedro and Messi sealed the win.

FC Barcelona bounced back from the Champions League elimination with a splendid 1-4 win at Villarreal. Two goals from Leo Messi and one apiece from Xavi Hernandez and Bojan Krkic earned the Blaugrana their 28th league victory of the season, equalling the Liga record set by Real Madrid in 87/88 and FC Barcelona in 96/97.

Despite being reduced to ten men in the 28th minute when Thiaggo Motta was sent off, it wasn’t until the 84th minute that FC Barcelona finally broke through with a goal from Gerard Piqué… but this wasn’t enough…
