FC Barcelona make it to the Spanish Cup semi-final

FC Barcelona drew 2-2 against the defending Spanish Cup Champions Real Madrid  at Camp Nou last night. This was enough for Pep Guardiola’s side to progress to the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey, as they edged out the holders after winning in Bernabéu 1-2 last week (4-3 aggregate)

Barca went in 2-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Pedro and a stunning goal from Dani Alves in the remaining minutes, but a second half fightback that produced goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema just fell short for Jose Mourinho‘s team.

Neither side could find the goal in the dying moments, and it ended all square on the night and 4-3 on aggregate to FC Barcelona, who will face Valencia FC or Levante in the semi-finals of the Spanish Cup

Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos was sent off for a second yellow card and FC Barcelona lost Iniesta and Alexis Sanchez  on injury. Alexis will be out 1-2 weeks with shoulder injury, and Iniesta will be out 2-3 weeks with hamstring strain.

29 Nov. 2010- FC Barcelona 5-0 Real Madrid, a day to remember

Things have changed since last season. Real Madrid CF is on top of the Spanish League, 6 points ahead of their arch rivals FC Barcelona.

But remember last season, exactly one year ago, on Monday 29th of November 2010. For the first Clasico of the 2010-2011 Season, the ‘Merengue’ were visiting the Camp Nou as a leader, with great hopes of maintaining or increasing their lead. A day to remember for all FC Barcelona fans… A ‘manita’ no one should ever forget. 90 minutes and 5 goals later, Jose Mourinho and co. had lost the lead, and their illusions… Pep Guardiola‘s players were at the top of their game with goals from Xavi, Pedro, Villa(x2) and Jeffren in the added minutes. Messi didn’t score, but dished 2 assits

We have gathered pictures and videos of this memorable event… Enjoy:

AC Milan – FC Barcelona – Champions League preview

AC Milan and FC Barcelona will face each other on Wednesday 23rd of November for one of the most exciting matchups of the 5th day of the Qualyfying round of the 2011-2012 Champions League.

After an early goal from Pato in September at the Camp Nou, FC Barcelona, whilst dominating most of the match, saw their lead vanish after a late goal in the dying minutes from Thiago Silva : 2-2 (Pedro and Villa had each scored for the Blaugrana). Barça is not seeking revenge. They will go out to play their attacking, high pressure, ball control game, as per usual.

Currently, FC Barcelona are 2 points ahead of their Italian rivals in the group H, and this match could be decisive for the first spot of the group, with the Champions League last 16 in mind:

Iniesta to miss match against AC Milan

Andrés Iniesta, FC Barcelona midfielder, will miss the 5th day of the Champions League where his team, FC barcelona, visit Italian giants AC Milan

Andres Iniesta will miss the Champions League match against AC Milan because of a bruised left leg. The player, who has made recovery exercises on Monday outside the group, suffered the hit on the last match against Zaragoza.

Pep Guardiola will  have to build his team without ‘El Manchego’  as he doesn’t want to take any risk with the 27 year old midfielder, only a few weeks from el Clasico against Real Madrid. The coach also received good news, with Pedro being back in the first squad after a month long injury

FC Barcelona v Mallorca

Mallorca have scored on each of their last four visits to the Camp Nou in Primera, the only current side in Primera to be on such a run.
It is seven years since a side managed to score in their fifth consecutive trip to Barcelona’s ground in the top flight (Real Zaragoza, Sep 2004).
Mallorca have won three times at the Camp Nou since 2000 in the league, the joint-most of any side.
Barcelona have scored in their last 18 league meetings with the islanders.

The last time Messi, Villa and Pedro all scored in the same match in the league was at Mallorca in February.

All 10 of Lionel Messi’s league goals this season have come at the Camp Nou.

Last time out Barcelona scored their first goal of the season that wasn’t from open play or from inside the box (Xavi direct free kick).

In this match Barcelona could keep a ninth consecutive clean sheet at home in the league for only the second time in their history (last time was in 1986).

Mallorca have won only one of their last 17 away games in the league since the start of last November.

The islanders’ last clean sheet on the road in the league came in March 2010, a run of 27 games.
