Luis Suarez after the bite incident : “You shouldn’t make such a big deal”

In an incident, towards the end of the second half of Uruguay vs Italy, with the score level at 0-0, Luis Suarez made contact with the Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. Chiellini went down straight away clutching his shoulder and later claimed that Luis Suarez bit him.

There were 2 very different perspectives from both players :

These are just things that happen out on the pitch. It was just the two of us, he bumped into me, and that’s how my eye got like this. There are things that happen and you shouldn’t make such a big deal out of them.

Giorgio Chiellini

It was ridiculous not to send Suarez off. It is a clear cut and there was an obvious drive afterwards because he knew very well that he did something that he shouldn’t have done.

Luis Suarez in the past has been found guilty and banned for biting. First at Ajax Amsterdam, playing in the Dutch League and more recently playing for Liverpool in the English Premier League.
