Eric Abidal wants to stay at Barcelona for two more seasons and is meeting with the club on Thursday.

“I am feeling good, I want to play here at the world’s best club and it’s difficult to go to other teams,”

“The problem is not a financial one, rather the number of seasons,” he said. “We have the chat on Thursday and I will come away from it feeling very happy.”

The former AS Monaco, Lille and Lyon player has been linked in the media with a move to Qatar-owned Ligue 1 side Paris St Germain, who have spent millions of euros on players to try to win a first French league title since 1994.

Cesc Fabregas is helping Xavi improve his game, the Barcelona fc and Spanish international has said.

“We are very comfortable together on the pitch. I think we complement each other quite well,” Xavi told a news conference.

“If he goes forward I stay back and cover for him or vice versa. We have shown that many times this year. I think Cesc improves my football.”

 Fabregas has made his mark at his rightful club, after eight years in the Premier League with Arsenal, scoring four league goals in four matches.

Lionel Messi said that when he retires from Barca he would like to play club football in Argentina with Newell’s Old Boys his home team.

He told Barca TV: “The easiest thing would have been to stay at Arsenal. I’m the captain, playing every game. We are always in the Champions League, always fighting for titles. For all that, and the tough competition here, perhaps now might be the worst time to return to Barca. It’s going to be really tough to make the starting XI, but I needed a new challenge in my life.”

He added: “I thought I’d stagnated a bit, and needed a change of scenery. I needed a special motivation to bring the best out of myself.”

“I think that Xavi still has some years left in him! He does things you wouldn’t believe!”

“I haven’t come to retire Xavi. I came here to play with Xavi, to compete with Xavi, and to win with Xavi. What I’m saying about Xavi also goes for Andres and Thiago. I think altogether we make a very good group. I know what we’ll do. With the great group we are, we’ll do great things together.”

“The last months I’ve been under a lot of pressure,” he admitted. “Mentally it’s really tiring, but it finally happened and I’m very happy to be back at Barca.”

“It is partly my fault that it has been so complicated, for having left. Not in my wildest dreams had I imagined that one day I would play for the Barca first team. Not as a child, nor playing with Arsenal had I thought I’d live a day like Monday.”

Coach Francesco Guidolin explained why Sanchez‘s position changed “We took a gamble on Sanchez. He had always played wide, but I put forward the idea of playing him behind the striker. From a central position he can be even more decisive. Playing there he is more unpredictable, harder to keep tabs on.”

“This year Arsenal has agreed to negotiate and we are working on it,” Guardiola said.

“Barcelona has made an offer, Arsenal another and we have time until August 31 and we’ll try to reach an agreement,” added Guardiola.

“There is a sum of money in the strong box set aside for this signing but if it doesn’t work out it will be kept in the box for something else.

“We will fight to the end to try to get Cesc because we believe he will improve the team and the squad”.

Barca are also going to plan on selling striker Bojan Krkic to Roma, who have hired former Barca B coach Luis Enrique for the coming season, Zubizarreta added.

“As we understand it we are in the final stages of the negotiations to sign Sanchez and an agreement will happen very soon,” former Barca and Spain goalkeeper Zubizarreta said.

“But I would have said the same thing this time last week. As in a good film, it seems sometimes the end takes a little longer,” he added.

“We have to stop at some stage … I hope we can close that very quickly in our favour,” Wenger said. “For us, it’s important that the team settles psychologically as quickly as possible because we have a tough start.”

It seems that Barcelona FC have agreed to buy Sanchez for £27 million fee according to a representative of the serie A club. Although this cant be confirmed at the moment and Sanchez is still in Argentina competing in the Copa America.

Manchester UTD and Manchester City have both been chasing him but Sanchez said that he would prefer a move to Spain, in particular our glories club Barcelona FC.

Quique Pina, who is responsible for any possible transfer, believes a deal is very close.
Pina said: “Both clubs have the utmost interest to finalise the transfer.

“The signing will be £27m plus variables – he prefers to play in Spain.”

After the long drawn out affair of Fabregas moving to Barca, a new situation has arisen which might cause more problems.
Fabregas left Barca when he was 16 in 2003 and has wanted to come home for some time now according to Xavi, who said, “I spoke to Cesc in Ibiza and he said he was suffering, because he really wants to come,” Xavi said.
“It’s what he most wants, he’s done everything he can to come and wants Arsenal to let him go.”
This has caused Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sink his claws in deeper to his captin and he also said this about Xavi.

“I believe a mutual respect between the clubs should stop this kind of comment,” Wenger told the Guardian newspaper.
“It is very disrespectful and it is not the first time that Xavi has been disrespectful to Arsenal Football Club” Wenger said.
“What is important is that Cesc Fabregas is contracted to Arsenal Football Club. That is a fact. Arsenal want to keep him.”

When asked if Soriano was the target, Jenkins added: “I think Brendan likes him, and I don’t think anything has happened with him yet this summer.”

LIONEL MESSI can never see himself playing in the Premier League.

And he is ready to spend the rest of his career at Barcelona.

The Argentine superstar, 23, stole all the headlines once again with a stunning performance as Manchester United were dismantled 3-1 in the Champions League final.

Striker Messi could name his price if he ever wanted a move away from the Nou Camp.

But he said: “I cannot see myself ever playing in any club shirt apart from Barcelona’s.

“I have been lucky enough to win everything with Barcelona and individually. But my goal now is to win the Copa America with Argentina.”
